Melinda Ann Greenlee

Melinda Ann Greenlee, 74, of Luling TX, passed peacefully and surrounded by family on November 9th, 2025. Ann was born to Billy Ray and Carolyn Frankie Bruner in Montgomery, AL in December of 1950 and had two younger brothers, Darryl and Larry. Coming of age during the Civil Rights Movement, Ann was very passionate and involved in advocating for the equal rights of all humans- a belief that became a core theme throughout her life. Making her way to Texas in the mid-70's,she continued to build her home and family in the Lone Star State. In May of 1979, she met Dan at the Kerrville Folk Festival and they were married Labor Day Sunday later that year on Chapel Hill. In October of 1983, they welcomed their daughter, Melissa, to the world. Ann, Dan, and Melissa would continue to attend the festival for the decades to come and the friends made there would become family. While she worked as an accountant and bookkeeper when she first came to Texas, her true passions were in the arts. She would create and sell beautiful pieces in various mediums, including stained glass, beading, silver smithing, pottery, paint, and more. She made the decision to follow her passion at returned to school in the 1990's, obtaining her B.A. in Art Education from the University of Houston. For almost 2 decades, Ann served as the art teacher at Garden Villas Elementary, sharing her passion and creativity with the young artists of the future. Her crowning achievement during that time was not just in sparking creativity with the kids, but in the design, funding, and creation of the school's Spark Park, a community park where Ann Greenlee designed and inlaid the mosaics. After her retirement, she had the opportunity to slow down and savor the everyday joys of life. She loved nothing more than listening to good music from local singers and songwriters, enjoying the natural beauty in the world around her, and loving on her family, especially her dogs. Ann lived a life full of love and laughter, surrounded by beauty in the natural world, the beauty of a well-sung song, with her sketchbook always by her side. She is survived by Dan, her husband of 46 years, her daughter Melissa and her husband Jon, her brother Darryl and his wife Sharette, and a whole herd of friends who became family over the years. Her memory lives on in cozy sweaters, the color turquoise, natural rock formations caught in the sunlight, and her artistic creations from a lifetime of inspiration.
