Donald Phillip Roth

Donald Phillip Roth, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by loving family. Born May 7, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of Murray and Ruth Roth. After graduating from Southwest High School in Kansas City, Don attended the University of Missouri. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1965. During that time, he married his lovely wife, Barbara, and together they started their family. Professionally, Don drew upon and honed his management and interpersonal skills, from his humble beginnings in wholesale clothing sales to project management in the cutting-edge world of technological innovation at IBM, ITEL, and Xerox. In his later years, at the invitation of his nephew, Michael Jaben, Don thoroughly enjoyed a second career in the world of asphalt paving. Donald loved meeting people and engaging in new projects: he remained active in the workforce until his early eighties. In his leisure time, Don enjoyed running and collecting antiques. He completed numerous marathons and 10Ks, logging over 400 miles in races alone. Don and Barbara were avid antique collectors for most of their years together, during which Don developed a fondness for folk art and bluegrass music. He will also be remembered as an ardent fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Murray Roth; his sister, Sheila Jaben; his daughter, Susan Roth; and his niece, Deborah Jaben. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 64 years, Barbara Roth; his brother, Robert Roth; his children Lisa, Jennifer, and Greg Roth; and his grandchildren Maia Roth Covey and her husband Kirk Covey, and Jasper and Ashlynn Roth. His family will remember with affection Don's sense of humor, his zeal for Coconut Cream Pie, and the many ways in which he showed his love and support for each of them. The family would like to thank Donald's many caring physicians, nurses, therapists, and caregivers for their compassion and assistance. We also very much appreciate the community of lovingkindness created by friends, family, and neighbors new, old, near, and far. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, Jewish Family Services, or a charity of your choosing in Donald's name. A Graveside Service for Donald will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19th, 2026, at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX.
