Daniel Avram Kimmelman

Daniel Avram Kimmelman, 34, was born in Austin, Texas, on October 15, 1984 to Neil and Tammy Kimmelman, and he passed from this life on May 6, 2019. Daniel was a true Austin native, with a deep love for all the beautiful natural areas around, especially the secret swimming holes. He was an adventurous spirit who followed his own drum beat. Whether it was jumping from a cliff or rope swing, soaring out of an airplane, running off to Burning Man, or exploring caves, he was always creating another magical memory. He was a spiritual inspiration to many and a kind friend to all. He became ordained, and lovingly performed wedding ceremonies for dear friends. He found joy in cooking and sharing good food with his family. Daniel was brilliant and creative, and he loved to work with his hands. He could teach himself and others any trade or craft. As a glass blower, Daniel developed his own style of glass art. He always had an affinity for fire, manipulating it to toast the perfect marshmallow or spinning it on a torch. He also learned to weld. He had a way of making fire a tool to create beauty or something strong and practical. More recently, he had worked a lot with jackhammers and other digging tools, which unfortunately led to the development of a chronic, painful condition that interfered with his ability to work. Daniel leaves behind many family members and friends who love him and were inspired by him. He is survived by his cherished son, Arion Kimmelman, his parents Neil and Tammy Kimmelman, siblings Michael and Sarah Kimmelman, his grandmother Shirley Abbo, and his soulmate, Sommer Akin. He also leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Our family has been fortunate to continue traditional customs and gatherings throughout the years, and Daniel and his cousins grew up very close to each other and have continued to be close as adults. He is also survived by his faithful dogs, Sunshine and Dude L Bug. Daniel was predeceased by his grandparents, Sheldon and Elaine Kimmelman, and Tony Abbo.
