March 7, 1941 - July 12, 2021
Marsha Allen, 80, of Worthington, Ohio and Austin, Texas, passed away after a long illness on July 12, 2021. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to everyone. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Prince Allen. Marsha was born in Brooklyn, New York, attended Wingate High School and went on to graduate from Brooklyn College with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She later attended graduate school at The Ohio State University - a path that allowed her to spend more time with Harry and became a devout Buckeye fan. She and Harry moved around for his career living in Boston, New Haven, Amsterdam and Columbus before retiring to Austin in order to near their kids. Marsha treasured her relationship with the love of her life, Harry and they were married for 57 wonderful years. She was so proud of and loved her family very much. She leaves behind daughter Cynthia (Barry) Wolff, son James (Maggie) Allen, grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Allen, Lonnie (Natalia) Lingo, Alexandra and Andrea Wolff and great grandchildren Natalia and Michael Lingo. She will be missed by Luis and Aracely Suarez, Nicole, Samantha and Daniel Suarez, nephews and nieces. Marsha loved to cook and spend time with Harry and they combined that into a career and taught cooking classes together for over 20 years. Feedback from the classes was always more about their relationship and banter than the amazing food they were cooking. She was an amazing friend and a person you could count on to tell you the unvarnished truth even when it wasn't pleasant. She was extraordinarily intelligent with a vocabulary that had her kids always asking if she was tired before challenging her to a game of scrabble - it was the only way they could win. She was also passionate about music and loved listening to salsa, opera and classical tunes. Her family is devastated at her loss and she will be sorely missed.
