Jerry Lee Skloss

Jerry Skloss passed away peacefully on May 8, 2022 in Austin, Texas. A devout Catholic, devoted husband, loving father and genius scientist grandfather - he will be missed by many. Jerry was truly one of a kind. Born at home on January 10,1939, in the Polish farming community of Kosciusko to parents Irene Mary Gawlik Skloss and P. E. Skloss, Jerry spent most of his life in Austin, but his heart was always on the family's farm. A lover of nature and numbers, he studied at St. Mary's and Rice University before pursuing a career in Environmental Chemistry. He began his career working for the US government in California before returning to Texas as one of the first employees at Radian Corporation. While studying at St. Mary's, he met Patricia Ann Espey at a school dance and the two married, later adopting two daughters. He created several patents for cleaner-burning coal before retiring and becoming a favorite cashier at Randall's and HEB. He is predeceased by his wife Patricia and survived by his daughters, Karen and Angela Skloss, his granddaughters, Ariella Skloss Dos Santos and Jasmine Skloss-Harrison, son-in-law, Sandy Carson, and his two remaining sisters, Janie and Carolyn and their families.
