Clinton A. Ritter

Clint Ritter, 83, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Austin, Texas, with his loving wife of 18 years, Barbara Ritter, at his side and the dedicated and compassionate support of the professional staff at Sodalis Austin and Suncrest Hospice. He is survived by his incredibly devoted wife, Barbara Ritter; his daughters, Alissa and Jessica Ritter, from his first wife, Christina Ritter; and many dear friends who became like family. Clint was born to Brownie and Clint Ritter, Sr. and grew up in Greenhills, Ohio, outside of Cincinnati. He had two siblings, younger brother, Rick, and younger sister, Janie Ritter. He was a proud graduate of Greenhills High School, where he made his mark as the star quarterback. His talent on the field earned him a full football scholarship to the University of Delaware. After college, Clint served his country as a member of the U.S. military and was stationed in Germany. He had a colorful and varied career that reflected his hard-working nature, curiosity, and entrepreneurial spirit. He was a successful small business owner, small-town newspaper publisher, and at the end of his career, a Manager of the Hill Country Intergroup Office in Austin, Texas. Clint's dedication to recovery was one of the defining chapters of his life. Having achieved over 40 years of sobriety from alcohol, he was deeply committed to supporting others on their own path to recovery. He sponsored and supported countless people over the years, and his compassion, honesty, and humor made him a source of strength and hope for many who suffered from alcoholism. Beyond his professional and personal accomplishments, Clint was a huge animal lover with a tender heart. Over the years, he rescued and cared for numerous dogs and cats, giving each one a loving home. His pets were one of the great joys of his life! Those who knew Clint will remember his quick wit, great sense of humor, intelligence, loyalty, commitment to political activism, and his deep love for his family and friends. Clint's legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. He supported both of his daughters throughout their lives and was instrumental in them graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in social work and education. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal rescue organization or to a recovery program of your choice-causes close to Clint's heart.
